Applique Letters

Left over from my bulletin board days...I love to cut out freehand letters.  You can iron on or sew onto clothing, pillows, banners, etc.

Maddi is spelling her name with her interactive letters.

Here are a few more "My Daddy's Shirts" outfits for Maddi and Brooklynn.  The outfits are size 4 and there is enough fabric left over to make their dolls a matching outfit.

The pocket had a stain so I made a new pocket for the dress.
It is easy to add an applique to "girly up" the shirt.

It is also fun to take "My Mommy's Skirt" and create the Boho look for little girls.

Vintage for AG doll

I repinned the BluPonyVintage skirt and top.  A slew of people repinned my repin!  So, I had to reproduce the cute outfit for the 18 inch doll.

Here's another.

Duchess and Lion clothing

This might just be my new "thing"...copying designer children's wear for the AG doll.  Helps refine my sewing and pattern making skills.

Inspiration and Interpretation

Coco Chanel once said “Without copying there would be no fashion.”

I have always been able to go to a store, see an outfit, and then make one that is very similar.  When my children were little and the high price of beautiful children's clothing was unattainable for our one salaried family, I had to resort to making something similar. Why reinvent the wheel, as they say.  Pinterest is loaded with "diy-ers" making their own version of, well, everything!

I am still inspired by designer fashions and often make my own versions for my granddaughters. Lately, I am enjoying recreating designer fashions for doll clothes.
Inspired by Matilda Jane clothing

I like bright colors!  The pattern for my doll dresses are listed on Etsy.  I used "jelly roll" fabric.

Monogram

I finally broke down and bought a sewing machine that monograms.  It is still not the huge $2,000 one, just another little Brother machine.  My granddaughter needed a few little dresses to wear to preschool. I visited our local consignment shop and found name brand knit dresses.  We southern girls love our monograms!

Fabric, a sock, and a monogram makes a cute dress

I still like to applique numbers and letters.
